Elaine Kahn thinks writing poetry is often like collecting stamps — an obscure and isolated hobby.
She would rather perform her poetry with keyboard plunks and a hand drum in front of an audience.
kind of fear this "interview" will survive the apocalypse. it was for a student paper and...whatever... it's a student paper but I am so grossly misquoted it infuriates me. the first question she asked me was if i played music as a way of setting my poetry to a tune and i said "no. no not at all. the lyrics of my songs are not poems and they are really different processes for me." i did refer to my compulsion of publicizing things about myself that i find shameful (as evidenced by the creation of this webpage) but i said that after the interview was over, along with most of the things she chose to include. for the record, i do not view poetry as a hobby, though i admit it is a bit esoteric.

this was taken at a really lovely reading. and is no fault of the photographer who is a stranger but I am sure is also really lovely. yet, it is probably the worst picture of me i have ever seen. my friend said "It's like the bags under your eyes have bags. My favorite part is your overtly pronounced nose to lip lines." i've looked at this picture a million times. maybe i love this picture, actually.
finally any of these stupid bullshit sexist pieces of mean-spirited, idiotically speculative text.
probably this webpage is now a thing on the internet i really hate and i will delete it soon.
